What Do Customers Say About the AWeber?
capterra.com
Positive reviews:
“It works as it is supposed to, but my most liked feature is the customer service. The app/tool can be great 99% of the time, but that one time you need help, you want that support ASAP, and Aweber delivers this in spades.” – Steve D. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ February 26, 2025
“Aweber is the new gem in town. With its excellent features, it does exactly what it was created for: connect, automate, and sell your vision and dreams to the world with Aweber. Easy to use and a very user-friendly tool.” – Bahaa H. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ April 11, 2025
Negative reviews:
“Nothing is to like, complicated to use and 0 to non-existent knowledge base.” – Anonymous User ⭐☆☆☆☆
“Sadly, Aweber completely destroyed an email campaign and lost me money. I had set up a sequence of emails and twice been on to support so they could confirm it was done correctly. When the time came, the emails went out in the wrong order, annoying customers I’d spent years building up and making our company look very unprofessional. Despite personal phone calls and apologies, Aweber seemed to lose interest and have yet to explain what happened.” – Ben T. ⭐⭐☆☆☆

Positive reviews:
“Aweber allows us to create, personalize, and send email campaigns. It’s easy to use and a very user-friendly tool. Fantastic customer service and support, and their free trial version is great for beginners.” – Elisha T. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ February 24, 2026
“Its simplicity and reliability also help businesses and individuals grow their audience and engage subscribers.” – Vinay G. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ October 15, 2025
Negative reviews:
“We have been working with Aweber for more than 7 years. Up to present, they had easy and manageable campaigns. In June 2025, they changed campaigns to workflows to match GetResponse’s interface, and our new experience is terrifying. We have long automated training for employees—more than 80 emails—and this needs a very compact view of the emails and timings. We always introduce new training emails that need to be very specifically added to the workflow. After having changed their Campaigns interface, the user interface has become a true nightmare. Before, we could see 15 messages + timings on one page, with an easy scroll to whatever point of the campaign. Now they display a big square on the page; now we can’t see anything inside the workflow. We can’t look anymore inside for the right place to introduce the new emails. We asked their team if we could have the possibility to switch to the previous interface, and they said no, it’s not possible. If you want to add a big problem into your life that is killing time and your nerves, work with the new Aweber Workflows.” – Verified User in Education Management ⭐☆☆☆☆ June 20, 2025
“Everything about AWeber is simply a pain in the backside. You go to the site and set all your CNAME records and verifications as directed. Maybe they verify, maybe they don’t. Who can tell? Then you add your subscribers. They show up in the system, but then your landing pages go dead to ‘be reviewed’ for reasons the rep won’t explain. You build a newsletter, and days later it’s still not sent to ‘review’ your account—for reasons the rep won’t tell you. It takes them 2-3 days on average to respond to any support request, all while your email sits in holding for reasons you don’t have. In short, AWeber is a massive pain in the butt. Coming from a competing platform, I’m going back. I gave them a try; they’re awful, I’m out. Absolutely horrendous.” – Mike S. ⭐☆☆☆☆

Positive reviews:
“Aweber is one of the simplest email marketing software that I have used so far. It is a list-based platform, which is easy to manage and has a simple user interface, very easy to navigate and understand each of the modules. In addition, it has an excellent analysis function available within the same software, where the statistics of the emails sent, of each of the campaigns and subscribers, are duly explained. Also, it is available in a phone app, which is also quite useful as you can stay connected with your campaigns and clients from anywhere. Their customer service is the best; I feel pretty confident that I can figure out whatever I need to do with their help, or resolve any issues as long as I can call them.” – Business Data Analyst ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
“One word for AWeber: it is very simple. Ideal for small businesses, an email marketing tool that is very easy to use and very easy to control everything within the platform. Great importing and exporting features and offers great integration.” – Marketing Manager ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
getapp.com
Positive reviews:
“AWeber has many advantages, but there are also certain things to take into account. When compared to some contemporary email marketing platforms, the software’s user interface could feel a little archaic. Although it offers the most fundamental automation features, more complex workflows could call for extra integrations or workarounds.” – Angelica B. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“I like that I can ‘draft’ each weekly newsletter, then copy it to the next week and make minor adjustments.” – Katherine W. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Negative reviews:
“I had to clean up our lists to help keep the costs of the software down, since it was based on the number of subscribers—and having the same subscriber on multiple lists upped the number.” – Vanessa C. ⭐☆☆☆☆
“The WYSIWYG email builder is wonky; the form generator is ancient; the templates are at best not-bad and at worst atrocious; and the overall interface is lagging behind other companies, especially at the new price point.” – Anthony R. ⭐☆☆☆☆

Positive reviews:
“Great management, awesome team, annual company retreats, strong culture.” – Engineer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“AWeber is a great company to work for, and consistently has been for many years. While being at AWeber, you get to work with awesome technologies and serve really cool customers. The team dynamic at AWeber is top tier, and communication between team members is ever present. There is always information sharing, internal documentation to reference, and avenues to learn/stay in the know. This commitment to public-facing communication allows team members to know what’s upcoming, know what’s expected of them, ask questions, posit suggestions/ideas, and appropriately prepare and plan. At AWeber, everyone has a voice, and their voice matters. Being at the company each day feels less like a job and more of an opportunity to accomplish something great.” – Customer Solutions ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Negative reviews:
“Low pay. The amount of pay and knowledge needed is not worth $15.50 an hour.” – Customer Service Representative (CSR) ⭐⭐⭐☆☆
“Ridiculously stressful job even if you only work at home and don’t have to go to work. This is the most brutal job I’ve had, spending the longest hours continuously dealing with rude customers and the shortest breaks. It’s insane.” – Anonymous Employee ⭐⭐☆☆☆

Positive reviews:
“At WikiLawn, we use MailerLite now. Not only is it far less expensive, but the tools and services on offer are similar enough to be suitable for our business. We also haven’t had as many issues like those I described above, though the first one can always be a problem with certain email providers. I’d say MailerLite’s biggest pro is the price point. It’s one of the best in terms of value. However, I find it far more obtuse when it comes to user-friendliness. It takes longer to do what you need to do, and saving a template is basically a must.” – Dan Bailey ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆

Positive reviews:
“Had a wonderful experience overall, would highly recommend to a friend or fellow colleague. It is so worth it, will not be disappointed.” – Alex A. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ April 2026
“Basically, I’ve used Aweber for decades to handle email marketing and collection. Works reliably and their customer support is helpful.” – Carleton T. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Negative reviews:
“I did not get many benefits and had a bad experience overall. I no longer care—this happened months ago, I am over it—but since I am writing a review on software I have used, I would advise all honestly to stay away as my story seems far from unique and had other bad experiences which I don’t have time to list. MailChimp is a pretty good alternative if you are checking out ESPs.” – Jacob W. ⭐⭐☆☆☆
“Not worth the price. Customer service regularly gave differing responses when looking for tech support. The number of errors and low functionality of the forms were bad as well.” – Erica J. ⭐⭐☆☆☆

Positive reviews:
“Brilliant! Good thinking and good help getting some of it done too! Segments for No Shows – New ideas! When to restart a workflow series of messages and when to not with tags based on audience actions. Aweber support is the very best!” – Julie Wolf ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ March 20, 2026
“I have been a customer of AWeber for years. Today was another confirmation of why I stick with this company. Justin in customer service helped me not only resolve an issue (I created), but helped me understand why this happened and how to avoid it in the future. In addition, Justin was kind, professional, and patient as I brainstormed with him how to best implement my vision. Once again, AWeber’s customer service team, and the ability to call and talk to a live person, is SUPERB.” – Kirsten Hope ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ March 6, 2026
Negative reviews:
“Aweber makes it almost impossible to cancel once you sign on as a subscriber. I’ve tried cancelling on laptop, cell phone, and iPad, however, the platform will not allow me to follow through with the cancellation. It appears the only way to cancel would be to cancel my credit card, which is so frustrating.” – Colleen Martin ⭐☆☆☆☆ February 20, 2026
“I have been waiting for an agent for 5 hours now in the chat area. I am trying to downgrade my plan. It is so very frustrating.” – Rayne ⭐☆☆☆☆ February 10, 2026

Positive reviews:
“Aweber has the best customer service I’ve ever encountered. If you are a small business owner and get stuck, they will walk you through anything you need, and to them, there is no such thing as a dumb question. Outstanding!” – Laurel Elders ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“AWeber is suitable for any Internet marketing business whether you are beginner or pro. It has everything you need for Internet marketing. It even supports affiliate marketing some other auto responders do not support. If you are still starting out or completely a newbie, AWeber customer support delivers an outstanding service. It helps to keep track on the campaigns we’re sending out to our clients by showing us real-time reports and analytics. We’re able to know the performance of our campaigns by showing Open Rates % and Click Rates %.” – Nkululeko Caiphas ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Negative reviews:
“Aweber is good if you’re a newbie and getting to grips with email marketing, however, if you’re more advanced and want to add dynamic pages, change layouts, it’s pretty much useless. You’re limited to preset conditions and the option of fonts is extremely poor.” – Nkululeko Caiphas ⭐⭐☆☆☆
“Aweber excels at email marketing in addition to the built-in solutions it offers such as automated marketing. This makes it perfect for all the triggered emails you need to create for various situations such as e-commerce abandoned cart emails to retain customers and improve your overall revenue. You’ll have to review how you’d use the solution.” – Verified User ⭐⭐☆☆☆

Drag-and-Drop Email Builder
AWeber’s drag-and-drop editor lets you assemble emails by clicking and repositioning content blocks – no coding needed. The layout is straightforward, and a Smart Designer can pull brand colors and imagery straight from your website URL and turn them into a ready-to-send template in seconds.
Email Templates Library
AWeber comes with 600+ pre-built, mobile-responsive templates spread across a range of industries and use cases. Each one is fully editable, and a built-in Canva integration lets you drop custom graphics into the design without bouncing between tools.
Email Automation / Drip Campaigns
Campaigns in AWeber fire on subscriber actions – link clicks, tag assignments, purchases, or signup date. You can chain emails into a sequence, drop in delays, and split paths by behavior – onboarding flows, post-purchase nurture, whatever the use case, no manual sending involved.
List Management & Segmentation
AWeber sorts contacts into lists, tags, and custom fields – the building blocks for filtering and targeting. Filter subscribers by open rate, click activity, location, or purchase history, then save those filters as reusable segments. Tagging happens automatically when a subscriber hits a defined trigger inside a campaign.
Email Personalization
Using AWeber’s dynamic content blocks, you can swap in a subscriber’s first name, company, or any custom field at send time. The personalize menu inside the text editor inserts merge tags directly, and capitalization rules prevent the awkward all-caps name formatting issues.
A/B Testing
AWeber supports split testing across up to three email variants – subject line, preview text, body content, and send time are all on the table. You define which audience percentage receives each version, and the platform reports opens and clicks per variant for direct comparison.
Landing Page Builder
AWeber’s landing page builder provides 160+ templates that go live without a separate hosting account. Pages support embedded video, countdown timers, product blocks, and tag-based form fields – and every page connects directly to your list so new leads are captured automatically.
Sign-Up Forms & Pop-Ups
AWeber’s form builder covers inline, pop-up, and lightbox formats through a WYSIWYG editor. Submit a form and it tags the subscriber, drops them into the right list, and fires off automation – all in one go. They embed via code snippet or install directly through the WordPress plugin.
E-commerce Integrations
AWeber connects natively with Shopify, WooCommerce, PayPal, and Etsy – purchase-triggered automation and product-based subscriber tagging included. Sales tracking and low transaction fees unlock on paid plans, letting you tie revenue back to specific campaigns.
Ad Audience Sync
Since March 2025, AWeber offers a direct Facebook Lead Ads integration that pushes new leads into your list in real time – no CSV exports or Zapier bridge required. Subscriber behavior across Facebook ads and landing pages can also feed retargeting audiences.
Deliverability Tools
AWeber owns its full sending stack, including IP infrastructure, which is uncommon among ESPs. The platform supports DKIM, SPF, and DMARC authentication setup from the account dashboard, with an in-house deliverability team keeping an eye on sender reputation on an ongoing basis.
Bounce & Unsubscribe Management
Hard bounces are handled automatically – those addresses get suppressed from future sends without any manual cleanup. Unsubscribe links are required in every email that goes out, and complaint rates are tracked per campaign, giving you something concrete to act on before inactive contacts start dragging down domain reputation.
Email Analytics & Reporting
AWeber tracks opens, clicks, unsubscribes, and subscriber growth per campaign, with named openers and clickers visible at the contact level. Sales tracking and automation-level analytics are behind paid tiers; basic broadcast stats come with every plan.
Multi-User Access
Paid plan holders can add team members and slot them into one of three roles – Owner, Admin, or a more limited access level. Data in transit and at rest is encrypted, and the platform operates as a Data Processor under customer instruction.
GDPR Compliance Tools
AWeber’s Data Processing and Security Terms document covers the standard GDPR bases – access, rectification, erasure, and the rest of the usual obligations. Data in transit and at rest is encrypted, and the platform operates as a Data Processor under customer instruction.
API & Integrations
AWeber’s REST API is JSON-based, running OAuth 2.0 authentication across subscriber management, broadcast creation, and external data sync. The integrations marketplace covers 750+ third-party tools – CRM, e-commerce, scheduling, analytics – each with documented endpoints.

- Segmentation
- Paid Subscriptions / Monetization
- Referral Program
- Custom Domain Support
- Landing Page / Website Builder
- Web Archive / Blog
- RSS-to-Email
- SEO Tools
- Analytics & Reporting
- API & Integrations
Let’s take a closer look at what AWeber delivers with each of these features.
Newsletter Editor / Builder
AWeber’s editor comes in three flavors – drag-and-drop, plain text, and HTML/WYSIWYG – with the Smart Designer pulling brand colors, logos, and imagery directly from your website to generate a starting template without any manual setup.
Email Automation
The Workflow builder maps triggers, conditions, and actions on a visual canvas. Tags automatically split subscribers into separate paths based on opens, clicks, or behavior, and send timing can be adjusted per subscriber’s local time zone – no developer required.
Subscriber Management
Contacts are organized into lists with custom fields and tags attached. Automation rules handle routine housekeeping, and AWeber’s free migration service (on the Plus plan) takes care of importing an existing list from another platform without any manual CSV wrestling.
Segmentation
Tags drive AWeber’s segmentation – assign them via sign-up forms, landing pages, purchase events, or link clicks, then use them to route subscribers into targeted campaigns. The result is audience splits based on actual behavior rather than static list membership.
Paid Subscriptions / Monetization
Recurring payments, one-time charges, and multi-payment plans can all be configured directly on AWeber landing pages via Stripe or PayPal – no separate checkout tool needed. Useful for newsletters, courses, coaching contracts, or subscription boxes.
Referral Program
AWeber’s Advocate Program pays a 30% recurring commission on referred paid accounts, scaling to 50% once 50+ paid referrals are reached within a rolling 12-month window. A 365-day cookie window gives referred visitors a full year to convert.
Custom Domain Support
Each AWeber account supports multiple connected custom domains for landing pages, configured through standard DNS records at your registrar. Both root domains and subdomains are supported, with GoDaddy and IONOS offering a one-click automatic connect option.
Landing Page / Website Builder
The drag-and-drop landing page builder ships with mobile-responsive templates across 100+ industries, a built-in Canva editor for custom visuals, and free SSL on every published page. Custom domain connection, Facebook Pixel, and Google Analytics hookups are all handled inside the builder.
Web Archive / Blog
Past email broadcasts are automatically saved to a hosted public archive page, accessible to anyone – not just subscribers. The feature is available on paid plans and gives new visitors a way to browse previous content before deciding to sign up.
RSS-to-Email
AWeber’s RSS-to-Email (called Blog Broadcasts) pulls new posts from any RSS feed and sends them as formatted email newsletters on a schedule you control. It’s a straightforward way to keep subscribers in the loop without manually drafting a campaign each time.
SEO Tools
Each landing page has editable meta title and description fields, a social sharing image setting, and free SSL included. Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel IDs can be dropped in per page for conversion tracking – straightforward on-page SEO controls without anything surplus to requirements.
Analytics & Reporting
Broadcast stats cover opens, clicks, and deliverability. Split testing runs across subject lines, send times, and content variants. Paid plans bring more detailed deliverability reporting, and the Plus tier adds subscriber and message-level data for teams that need to dig past the headline numbers.
API & Integrations
AWeber’s REST API handles programmatic list and subscriber management. The integrations directory runs to 300+ direct connections – Shopify, WordPress, WooCommerce, Wix, and Squarespace among the more commonly used – with Zapier covering a further 750+ tools for workflow automation that goes beyond what the native directory handles.
